Production Facility Update
March 21st, 2017
Hey Everyone –
We’d like to take the opportunity to update you all on the progress of our expansion plans. Many of you have heard the news of our production facility plans for the former Evanston Recycling Center. We signed a lease with the City of Evanston for that property on January 1st, 2017 which provides for a contingency period to conduct due diligence and all necessary inspections to ensure this is the absolute ideal location to expand Smylie Brothers Brewing Co.
So far we’ve touched a bit on the process of working with the City of Evanston to bring something new and exciting to this long vacant building, but haven’t really shared too many details about what we have in store. So here it goes;
Upon successful completion of all building and property inspections, Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. will move forward with converting the former City of Evanston Recycling Center into Smylie Brothers Draft & Package. This will be the production facility for Smylie Brothers Brewing Co., brewing our flagship Smylie Brothers Beers. Beer brewed here will help supplement the large demand at the busy brewpub while allowing us to package cans and kegs for distribution to all your favorite bars, restaurants, and retailers.
This expansion also comes with a few fun toys. The Smylie Brothers Draft & Package location will feature a taproom which will look out onto the production floor, and express the same family friendly, casual atmosphere you’ve come to enjoy at our pub. The small kitchen on site will offer up fresh, grilled sandwiches and sides. A large beer garden will allow ample space to relax outdoors during the warmer months, and perhaps a fire pit or two for when it gets cold. Also, with the increased brewing capacity, our brewpub will have the freedom to brew more experimental, seasonal, and one-off beers, so you can expect to see even more variety and creativity coming from our Brew Crew.
More than anything, we’ve been extremely lucky to have so many fantastic customers. Because of you, the demand for our beer requires more production space, and we are extremely excited with the prospect of maintaining that production right in our home base of Evanston. You can read more about this project with some words from Mike in The Chicago Tribune.
Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated as we move along.
Cheers!
Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. Crew
